About Alex Gaylord
Game Development Student Game Design @ UCF
Level Designer

I’m Alex Gaylord, a game design student at the University of Central Florida with a focus on level design and gameplay design. I love creating immersive environments that tell stories through layout, pacing, and mechanics. Most of my experience is in Unity, where I feel the most comfortable, but I’ve been steadily building my skills in Unreal Engine, especially through recent level design and scripting projects.
I’m currently learning more about shaders and visual effects to better support the mood and style of the environments I create. My goal is to design levels that feel alive, reactive, and memorable. Whether that is through smart enemy placement, visual/enviornmental storytelling, or custom effects.
Outside of classwork, I’m prototyping, testing, and finding new ways to improve. I approach every project as a chance to grow, collaborate, and push myself creatively.
